General Election of India 2014

Election commission of India (ECI) has announced date for general election on 5th of March 2014. In 2014 general election 9 phase poll is arranged by ECI starting from 7th April and ending on 12th May 2014. And finally counting of votes will be conducted on the 16th May 2014 and everywhere Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are used so result would probably come out on the same day. This will cover 28 states and all union territories of India. Along with parliament election there would be three states assembly election is also commenced. These states are Andhra Pradesh (As yet Telangana is yet not formatted), Orissa (Odisha) and Sikkim.



Along with that there would be by election of assembly constituencies in Gujarat which were left empty after death or resignation of candidates.

This time India has around 81.4 corers of qualified voters and they would vote via more than 9 lacks polling station across India for 543 parliament seats.
As Supreme Court has ordered ECI has commenced NOTA (None Of The Above) option to all electors. So now you can have option not to choose any candidate available to you.

Gujarat has single phase election on 30th April 2014.
